The Taoist Arts Summer Course is at the St Just Sports centre in West Cornwall.

T’ai Chi Week: Monday the 29th July until Friday 2nd August 2019

Kung Fu week: Monday 5th August – Friday 9th August 2019

Anmo, Health & Massage Week : Monday 12th August – Friday 16th August 2019

The course is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced students of the Lee style.  Many of our advanced students and teachers attend the courses so it’s a good opportunity to benefit from their experience as there is a high ratio of teachers to students, which means plenty of opportunities to work with a teacher on an individual basis.

Those who are travelling to the course from a distance may want to reserve accommodation which costs between  £220-£260 (Summer) per week, depending on availability. The earlier you book the better value accommodation can be reserved for you.

  • £35 per day (pay on the day)
  • book and pay in advance for a full week for £150 and save £25 per week.
  • Book all three weeks of the summer course and pay in advance for £400 and save £125

Our most recent weekend class was held in York in May. Friends and students from York as well as surrounding areas such as Harrogate and Sheffield joined us for a day of Tai Chi. It was great to see both familiar faces and also those who had decided to come along and try a day course for the first time.

It’s a chance to get gain some deeper understanding of the art as we have a little longer to spend on the various sections than we do during an evening class. And we also get time to include some exercises that we don’t cover in the evening class that often such as Two Hands Against One or Whirling Arms. Keep an eye out on this site for details of upcoming courses in York and also the TCAA’s Summer Course in Cornwall in July.

This Easter, a group of students travelled down to Cornwall to join in with friends from the TCAA for a week long course. I also took my eight year old son.

I thought he may do an hour or so for a couple of days – he ended up doing three full days of 6 hours?

And why go all the way to Cornwall to practice T’ai Chi? Well apart from the chance to train with friends from all around the country, and learn from a vastly experienced group of instructors, just a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings is reason enough to refresh the soul……

The next one day weekend Tai Chi class will be held during the autumn term – date to be advised but will most likely be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School, Hamilton Drive East, York.

All levels are welcome, including beginners.

The one day classes are a great chance to practise in a little more depth . Its a good chance to meet like minded friendly people who are only too willing to share their knowledge.

Parking is available in the school carpark. Hot drinks provided – you’ll just need a packed lunch.

Instructor for the day: Martyn Horne

Hours: 10am til 5pm

Price: £40
